As a world-renowned tourist attraction, the billion-dollar Galleria Al Maryah mall located at the center of Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi, holds the distinction of being Abu Dhabi’s Largest Mall, as well as a focal point of technology and shopper/visitor experience. Known world-wide for holding events such as Abu Dhabi’s “Festival of Lights,” and housing hundreds of stores, theatres, and tourist attractions, the impressive facility helps to cement Abu Dhabi as an epicenter of culture and tourism.

The Challenge

The Galleria mall covers 2.7 million sq. ft. and has more than 500 stores, meaning a typical guest experience could take an entire day of roaming freely from restaurants and cafés, to theatres special events and unique entertainment hubs.

To enhance Galleria Al Maryah’s reputation for being more than just another shopping mall, the facility’s ownership was seeking to set a new standard shopper experience with the world’s best technology. Helping millions of visitors with simplified navigation of such a massive facility would require a scalable digital wayfinding solution that could be used in a variety of ways.

The Solution

22Miles interactive wayfinding kiosks, mobile & custom user experiences, and augmented reality were implemented across the entire facility. Visitors can enjoy instant navigation to all of Galleria Al Maryah’s points of interest through 80+ kiosks, or on their mobile phones.

Admins can generate revenue while increasing user engagement by displaying advertisements for food, events, stores, and other onsite amenities on digital screens. The 22Miles CMS also allows real-time tracking and analyzing button clicks and other screen engagements for kiosk and mobile. Galleria’s addition of augmented reality wayfinding, and a unique “Find my car” feature, ensure that the facility’s reputation as a one of a kind regional experience is validated.
