22Miles Launches 10,000 Square Foot Video Wall & Wayfinding at the Las Vegas Convention Center

“The 22Miles platform allowed us to manage all our formats of content, thus enhancing our guest experience as we intended. There have been many thousands of app downloads along with touches and engagement on our mobile and kiosks wayfinding, plus our large 10k video wall is the centerpiece of our West Hall expansion. 22Miles was helpful & detailed throughout the entirety of our digital transformation.”

The Client

As one of the largest convention centers in the U.S, the Las Vegas Convention Center underwent a billion-dollar renovation, embracing the challenge of unifying their technology to drive higher user engagement and create a one-of-a-kind experience for the millions of guests the convention center hosts.

The Challenge

The West hall expansion of the Las Vegas Convention Center needed to match the technology innovation of LVCC’s other high profile technology like the underground Tesla Tunnel spearheaded by Elon Musk’s The Boring company. In addition to the desire to have facility wide interactive wayfinding both at the kiosk and mobile device user level, the convention center had existing older digital signage screens that would require a CMS that could manage all areas of content across existing and new screens and video walls of various sizes throughout the facility.

Additionally, the West Hall needed an eye catching centerpiece for visual communications that would set the stage for the user experience, while informing guests of upcoming events and the grandest way possible.

The Solution

Working with 22Miles in partnership with Samsung and DCL, the convention center’s full scale digital transformation, incorporating high user engagement technology consisting of:

One of the largest attractions added to the facility, was a state-of-the-art 10,000-square-foot 10k video wall implemented through a joint effort from DCL, Samsung, and 22Miles.

Samsung and specialty fabricator DCL to equipped the center with a fleet of digital hardware solutions including the ultra-high-definition Samsung LED signage. This record-breaking display would become the largest installation of its kind to be completed in a U.S convention center, offering show organizers and exhibitors an unparalleled chance to make a vivid first impression on each visitor who enters the center and serving as the centerpiece for the upgraded space.

The visually stunning experience continues throughout the facility with additional video walls positioned in key areas and amenities, including “The Las Vegas Loop”. Designed by Elon Musk’s infrastructure and tunnel services startup The Boring Company, the loop opened in 2022 as a visionary subterranean transportation system, designed to help visitors navigate the sprawling center quickly. The tunnel employs a fleet of self-driving Tesla vehicles to chauffeur attendees between the halls of the convention center campus every hour, free of charge.

To unify the technology experience within the convention center, interactive 3D wayfinding kiosks and screens, which would be used by touch or used on a mobile phone, were added. A custom mobile app experience which incudes augmented reality wayfinding brings the full experience of navigating the massive facility directly to the visitor’s personal mobile device. Additionally digital screens including room boards and overhead signage round out the technology ecosystem within the 2.5 million square feet of exhibit space within LVCC.
